Abstract
” Où, quand, comment et de quelle manière les pathogènes sont apparus, se sont adaptés à de nouveaux hôtes et ont évolué, sont autant de questions fascinantes dans le monde des maladies infectieuses. Mon intérêt pour ces questions s’est confirmé au cours de mes différentes expériences de recherche, au cours desquelles j’ai pu découvrir de nombreuses facettes de l’écologie évolutive des maladies infectieuses et réaliser d’enrichissantes expériences de terrain. C’est d’ailleurs en combinant ces facettes que nous avons découvert une nouvelle espèce de parasite du genre Plasmodium (agents du paludisme), chez les grands singes africains, nommée Plasmodium vivax-like. Depuis cette découverte, je développe mes projets de recherche autour de l’histoire évolutive de cet incroyable parasite. “
